Born in Paris, France in 1953. In Israel since 1980.
Alain studied mime in the National Circus School in Paris, buffoon theatre in Ein Hod with Gil Becher and Comedia del Arte masks in Brussels, Belgium. Studied drama in Camera Obscura, Haifa and at the Misgav Theatre Cell.
Graduated from Miri Peeri’s School for the Arts of Puppet Theatre, Israel. Alain is member of UNIMA
Currently: Ensemble member, creator, co-director & teacher at the Shlomi Center for Alternative Theater under the artistic direction of David Maayan.
Alain is also a hospital clown , member of the “Dream Doctors” NGO, working at the Nahariya Hospital.
Between 1990-1995 participated as an actor, costume and set designer in Arma Ein Hod productions. Including The Acco Fringe Theatre festivals of 1995 & 1996.
In 1996 Alain and Yael founded the Kirkas Kiss theatre group that is based in Ein Hod. They direct and administer the group and create the puppets, props and costumes for its productions.
Kirkas Kiss productions showed all over Israel including the Haifa Children’s Theatre Festival, International Street Theatre Festivals in Bat Yam. Kirkas Kiss’ , the ‘Circus Cabaret Show’ toured all over Israel including the Israel Festival of Jerusalem,and the Jerusalem International Puppet theatre Festival ‘ The Royal Colors’ production also toured extensively including the Israel Festival, the Acco Fringe Theatre Festival, The Bat Yam International Street Theater Festival & more. In 2006 Kirkas Kiss co produced the Saint-Saens “Animal Carnival” with Nitza Shaul. The groups’ productions also toured abroad.
Since 2000, Alain is a founding member of the Shlomi Center for Alternative theater (http://www.shlomicr.co.il/) created & participated in all its productions including
Alain is also teaching theatre ,acting, props, special effects & puppetry at the theatre school of the Shlomi Centre for Work and Creation directed by Dudi Maayan. He is a member of the Shlomi Centre Alternative Theater ensemble & is a creator & actor in the Center’s new productions: “ Something that ends in a Dance”,“ Summer Collection” ,”Forgotten Memories” ( Acco Festival – Sibiu Festival Romania) “ Via de la Rosa”(Acco Festival, Israel Festival) .”Hayeshenim”‘
“The Wailing Wall”, ” the Family Table” that received the prize for teamwork at the 2010 Acco Fringe Theater Festival.
Alain co-directed two productions at The Center for Alternative Theater together with Pablo Zalzman : Olim Al Hashulchan & Don Quixote.
He also teaches puppetry and directs puppet workshops for adults & children.
Alain is working since 2004 as a hospital clown in the “Dream Doctors” project in the Poriya, Nahariya & Bnai Zion hospitals. (http://www.dreamdoctors.org.il/site/)
Alain Koginsky is married to Yael Aynor, has two children and lives in the Ein Hod artists village.
